Mazars Challenge Lead 2022

Mazars

A small step for man, a giant loop for mankind!

“How might we increase circular economy within our business to encourage sustainable behavior amongst our employees to reduce Mazars´ climate impact?”

We are an international group specialized in audit, tax, consulting, and IT services with about 200 employees in Austria. Mazars Austria is at the very beginning of its journey towards a more sustainable method of operating. As Mazars is a firm operating on an international level, there are ESG initiatives and a sustainability strategy of the group which we as Mazars Austria plan on adapting and adopting. Therefore, we recently developed a first action plan for sustainability measures and aim at getting all employees on board. In spring we will launch the sustainability project for all employees.

Since our business is a people business, we belief that a change to a circular economy can especially come to life through the engagement of our employees. In this regard we are wondering how we can make the shift to circular economy through our employees.

Mazars Group has launched a Sustainability Foundation Course which aims at informing about the urgency of global environmental sustainability issues. With regards to social sustainability, there is an unconscious bias training for managers. Also, we will be launching green mobility guidelines concerning sustainable business travels and there will be a Mazars community day which is one day per employee per year which can be spent on volunteering.

On a local level we are currently implementing an “initiative hub” – a simple platform for employees to submit ideas for new initiatives and innovative solutions.

If we neither create awareness for the urgency of sustainability issues nor motivate our colleagues / employees to act in a sustainable way, we will in the long run have difficulties in terms of employer branding. Furthermore, increasingly also clients demand actions regarding environmental and social sustainability. If our colleagues / employees are not aware of the necessity of their contribution our long-term success is at risk. Additionally, we want to take sustainability measures as we are offering sustainability services and it is of high importance to us to be authentic.

We are looking for a solution with an interactive aspect that addresses all employees.
